Take basic weaving on a new journey! In this fun workshop, learn how to design and weave double-width cloth,
cloth tubes, and double layers where the colors reverse
themselves on the front and back of the cloth. With double
weave, fabric can be wider, have more dimensions, deflect
and defy being flat! We will work with Sawtooth’s four harness
looms on a sampler and a small project. Students
can work on their looms between class times, too.
This is an intermediate class. To take this class students should already know how to:
• how to wind their threads on a warping board
• how to thread a loom and wind on the warp threads
• how to determine their project threads (after the sampler)

Gauldin, Kathryn

Kathryn employs pattern, texture and color using printmaking, weaving, dyes and other materials in combinations to make art and fine craft. Kathryn enjoys the challenge of materials and structure, sometimes redefining and repurposing the intention of the material, with great inspiration from nature. She studied art at UNCG, WCU, Haywood Production Crafts program and has a BA in Art from High Point College and continues to make mistakes and learn new things. She exhibits locally, participates in residencies and presents workshops. Kathryn has been awarded several grants that fund new projects that are easily found on social media and local galleries.
