What is Plein Air Painting? Popularized by the French Impressionists like Monet and Renoir “En Plein Air” (Open Air) painting is taking your easel into the great outdoors to paint lovely scenes within view. Join award winning painter Craig Richards to discover the tricks and tips to create lovely works of art on location. This two-day workshop will begin in the classroom to prepare students for outdoor adventures, then the class will paint together at the gardens and grounds around Reynolda House.

Richards, Craig

Craig has a deep love for the outdoors, spending most of his free time climbing, paddling and hiking. This love is reflected in the essence of his paintings and sculptures. His paintings are primarily in oils reflecting a variety of styles. His sculptures combine the feel of the natural world coupled with sparks of modern elements. He is the founding member of Triad Outdoor Painters a group of local artists in the NC Piedmont and Foothills and a long time member of Muddy River Art Association.
