Create a wonderful array of colors on fibers using natural materials. This class will explore natural dye techniques and different mordants on protein and cellulose fibers. We will use dye plants that you can grow, collect in the area, or purchase. While creating beautiful colors, we will discuss why using natural dyes over synthetics is important. Each student will build a swatch book with test and recipes to continue using natural dyes at home. Please bring your own fibers to dye the first day of?class. All fabrics and fibers must be 100% natural (i.e. cotton, wool, linen, silk).
