This course provides a comprehensive overview of Yamaha outboard motor systems, guiding participants from essential boating terminology through advanced rigging practices and system integration.
Instruction combines in-depth, classroom-based theory with hands-on, applied learning activities to strengthen technical understanding and real-world problem-solving skills. By the conclusion of the course, participants will be equipped to interpret system schematics, diagnose common and complex issues, and perform informed troubleshooting across a wide range of outboard applications.
The ITOS curriculum is designed to build foundational technical knowledge not only of Yamaha outboard engines, but also of boats and related marine systems. Course content includes electrical and ignition systems, rigging techniques, corrosion prevention, propeller selection, and additional critical topics, all delivered using Yamaha’s Introduction to Outboard Systems course textbook, featuring over 300 full-color pages of technical reference material.
Participants who successfully complete the course will earn a Certificate of Completion.
