Meet Patrick Henry and his second wife, Dorothea Dandridge, who was a cousin to Martha Washington. Together, they share their stories of America’s struggle for independence and the establishment of a new nation. You will hear the famous speech of Patrick Henry that sparked the American Revolution and discover the roots of his oratorical skill and political passion. Dorothea will talk of giving birth to 11 of Patrick’s 17 children, and what life was like as the First Lady of Virginia in the late 1770’s and mid 1780’s. Together, Patrick and Dorothea turned hardship into triumph. Prepare to be inspired as you meet this dynamic duo.

Gary Hauck holds a PhD from Michigan State University and is Dean Emeritus of Arts and Sciences at Montcalm Community College. He is the author of 26 books, and has traveled to all 50 states, and all seven continents, and 120 countries.

 

Kim Murphy has served as a life enrichment coordinator for older adults for more than 30 years. She enjoys inspiring lifelong learning and finding joy in everyday moments. A writer, speaker, teacher, and event coordinator, she has taught classes for CALL and was the 2023 winner of a Brilliance Award from West Michigan Woman magazine.
