In-person: Worshiping with the Reformers
May/Summer Course | Available
One of the biggest and most tangible outcomes of the Reformation was the transformation in the ways people worshiped. From the sacraments to the layout of the worship space, from preaching to prayer, singing, and catechetical instruction, early modern Christians lived through dramatic changes that durably reshaped their worship practice. This course brings these worship experiences to life, laying out the theological and biblical reasonings presented by the Reformers for these changes and highlighting how these transformations reshaped Protestants’ communal, household, and private worship practices. Through lectures, discussion, short readings, and visuals, this course will help participants gain a clearer understanding of the roots and significance of their own worship experiences.
Presenter: Dr. Karin Maag is the Director of the H. Henry Meeter Center for Calvin Studies at Calvin University.
