10-Online-The Darkness Attacks: Jesus and His Opponents
Fall or Spring Course | Registration opens 8/4/2025 6:00 AM EDT
In this seminar series we have learned that Jesus’ arrival in the world was described as light penetrating the darkness. But now we find something new: the darkness has launched a counter-attack. Jesus is accused openly in a manner we have not seen before. And with incisive theological precision, Jesus defends himself while turning on his accusers.
This course is a continuation of our seminar on the Gospel of John. However, anyone can join us at any point, and you’ll feel caught up immediately. We will discuss the famous account of the woman caught in adultery, the open conflicts at the Feast of Tabernacles (John 8-9), and the stunning accusations at the Feast of Hanukkah (10). We will end with Jesus’ most magnificent miracle: the raising of Lazarus (11). This final public miracle will serve as foreshadowing of Jesus’ own resurrection in chapter 20.
