This course offers an exciting opportunity to explore the life and legacy of President Gerald R. Ford, guided by expert insights and immersive experiences. In the opening session, Gleaves Whitney, the Executive Director of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation, will take students on a fascinating journey through Ford’s life—from his humble beginnings to his pivotal role as the 38th President of the United States. You will learn how Ford helped steer the nation through the aftermath of the Watergate scandal, worked to heal the wounds of Nixon’s resignation, and made key decisions during the tense days of the Cold War.
During the second week, students will visit the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum downtown, where docents will guide you through thought-provoking exhibits, including the 50th Anniversary Exhibition—an exclusive display that offers a unique look at the political processes and critical events that defined Ford’s presidency.
Carpool options will be available from Calvin and parking is available on-site. After your tour, we will conclude with a Q&A session in a museum classroom.
