Join us for a captivating journey through time at the historic Sweet House in the heart of Grand Rapids' Heritage Hill neighborhood! Built in the 1860s, this stunning Italianate mansion is not just a house—it's a piece of local history, filled with priceless relics that tell the story of our city's past. From paintings by the world-renowned Mathias Alten to a dining table that has hosted four U.S. presidents, the Sweet House is brimming with fascinating treasures. The house was also owned and used by the Grand Rapids Women's City Club, preserving its rich heritage for generations. Guided by knowledgeable docents, you’ll learn about the house, Martin Sweet (its first owner), and the pivotal role he played in shaping early Grand Rapids. Following a one-hour tour of this architectural gem, enjoy light refreshments while mingling with fellow CALL history enthusiasts. This is a perfect opportunity to connect with the past and gain a deeper appreciation for the legacy of this remarkable house.

We will meet at the Sweet House for the tour, and there is parking available nearby. If handicapped parking is needed, please contact the CALL office.
