12-Online-Cracking the Code

Fall or Spring Course | Registration opens 1/2/2025 6:00 AM EST

How do you keep the enemy from decoding your messages when your cipher machines do not work well in the jungles of the Pacific Islands? You enlist the help of Native Americans who speak the complex, unwritten Navajo language unintelligible to those with whom you wage war. This group of 29 boys turned men participated in every major Marine operation in the Pacific theater, transmitting thousands of messages that spelled out valuable information. Their efforts proved critical in several important campaigns and helped the United States and its allies win the war. Come find out more about this amazing group of soldiers and see how you crack their code!
